Our Her-story

Jillian Clark and Cindy Freeman travelled from Wisconsin and Rachel Martinez travelled from Key West, Florida, and met at the Posi Music Festival in Orlando, Florida, in January 2011. We each had different musical and life histories--very different from each other. Yet, we had an interest in music and wanting to put our experiences of faith and following goals into song. As we sat around the pool chatting, we found a connection on one phrase: "I am me, I am who I am, I am who I'm gonna be". We committed to turn returning home and connecting again "soon" via Skype to turn it into a song. They worked on that song, then went to another and came back to the song several times. It took nearly a year of writing almost every week to finish what became "I Am Who I Am" and several more songs.
In February 2012, a connection was made on Facebook with Barbara Patterson and Jan Revell of Purpose Talk Radio who were holding a contest to find a theme song for their show. Jillian, Rachel, and Cindy submitted two songs they thought were appropriate to the show: "I Am Who I Am" and "Hear Your Soul." "I Am Who I Am" was selected from all the submissions as the winner. That solidified their thought that what had been created was more than a hobby. It meant it was time to incorporate and make plans to do more with their music than write and file the songs away on a computer. That is when they became True Trinity.
That song "I Am Who I Am" has been the theme song to an international internet radio show Purpose Talk Radio since April 16, 2012. The archived show of the first day it aired is as and archive with the guests Susanne Witte and Shelly Siddoo. (This show and the first airing of the song so match each other.) Jillian, Cindy and Rachel (as True Trinity, of course, were guests on the show on June 25, 2012, and that show also is archived and can be heard by clicking here.
Had anyone asked the three women, who had very different personalities, different life paths, different goals, they probably would not have anticipated the connection that was created that weekend. They continue to work together and individually as musicians and as songwriters. Collectively, they are known as True Trinity. (See a bit about their individual backgrounds on individual pages.)
